4 Ways to Restore Muscle Function and Decrease Pain...#3 Sounds Counter-Intuitive and it Works!

You wake up and you've got some aches and pains. It's almost to the point where you are getting used to it; almost like the old adage, "that's a part of getting old."

Well, that's flat wrong. You can alleviate and get rid of aches and pain that have been around for a LONG time. Here is how:

  1. Exercise - Yeah, you knew that. Are you doing it regularly? Did you know that some parts of your joints (like the meniscus in your knee) get most of their nutrients because you exercise? The meniscus is like a sponge? That when it compresses it expels waste and picks up new nutrients, just like a sponge. Exercise is key for quality of life.
  2. Fruits and Veggies - Not only do they have fiber, but fruits and vegetables have anti-oxidants and other micro-nutrients that clear away inflammation. Inflammation actually sensitizes your body to the pain response. Less inflammation = less pain.
  3. Very low intensity isometrics - Low intensity isometrics in weak positions are shown to restore muscle function and decrease the sensation of pain. The more muscle you have working, the more you can disperse the impact of load (think walking or exercising force) on your aching joints.   4. Stop doing the thing that bothers you - If you keep pushing something damaged, it will eventually break. Just for a bit, while the area heals, stop doing activities that are irritating it. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Ignoring the pain won't make it go away.
